As a Single Day Volunteer, you’ll play a crucial role in bringing joy and possibility to our campers.

Whether you’re helping lead a horse at the Equestrian Center, preparing meals in the Dining Hall, or keeping our facilities looking beautiful, your efforts create a welcoming and transformative environment for kids and families.

Full Weekend Volunteer

As a Full Weekend Volunteer, you’ll immerse yourself in CCK's campgrounds, creating unforgettable moments for campers and their families.

Whether you’re serving as a Family Buddy, guiding families through activities and building connections, or as a Program Counselor, facilitating fun in areas like the pool, arts and crafts, horseback riding, or archery, your presence transforms the camp experience.

From cheering on campers at the bowling alley to sharing meals with families, you’ll play a vital role in fostering joy, confidence, and togetherness.

Full Weekend Volunteers commit to three days, including orientation, and are provided on-site housing to support their meaningful work. Plus, you earn up to 40 service hours!

Full Week Volunteer

As a Full Week Volunteer, you'll dive into the heart of summer camp, becoming a mentor, cheerleader, and role model for courageous kids.

Working alongside summer staff counselors, you'll ensure campers have their most exciting and empowering experience yet-leading activities, encouraging growth, and creating unforgettable memories.

This immersive, 24-hour role requires energy and commitment, but the rewards are life-changing-for both you and the campers. Full Week Volunteers dedicate six days (Saturday to Thursday) to transforming lives, earning up to 100 service hours, and building connections that last a lifetime.

At The Center for Courageous Kids, medical volunteers are the backbone of our camp sessions, ensuring every child has a safe and unforgettable experience.

By providing expert care and compassionate support, you empower campers to focus on fun, build confidence, and create lasting memories. Whether you’re a nurse, physician, or medical student, your role is vital in making camp possible for children with medical needs.

Medical volunteers commit to attending a one-day orientation and staying for the full weeklong Independent Summer Camp, with on-site housing provided. Join us in transforming lives and creating a safe, joyful space where courageous kids can thrive.

Volunteer FAQs

I have a form that I need signed to verify my hours. Who do I need to talk to about that?

Our Volunteer Recruiter will verify all service hours. She will greet you when you check in. Please have the form available at that time. She will accept it at check-in and return it to you via e-mail or fax the week following the retreat.

What time will I be able to leave on Departure Day?

Departure will be around 2:00pm CT for weekend retreats.
Departure will be around 1:00pm CT for summer sessions.

What are the different volunteer opportunities?

There are many opportunities to volunteer at CCK:

  • Family Weekends: requires a three-day commitment including attendance at volunteer orientation at the start of the weekend, Friday-Sunday.
  • Summer Sessions: requires a six-day commitment. (Saturday-Thursday)
  • Day Volunteers: Day volunteers are needed for all weekend retreats and summer camp sessions. Overnight housing is not required or provided for these positions.  
  • Corporate: Organize a volunteer opportunity for your team of employees to partake in the CCK experience together.
I have a food allergy or I am a vegetarian. Will there be food options for me?

Yes, we provide meals during our weekend retreats and our summer session alternative meal options are provided for those with specific dietary restrictions. We also have a fruit and salad bar that are options for each meal as well.

How old do you have to be to volunteer?

To volunteer as a day volunteer you have to be at least 16 years old. To volunteer for our family weekend retreats or summer camps you have to be at least 18 years old.
